SEBASTOPOL, Sonoma County — October 15, 2026. Seven candidates are competing for three Sebastopol City Council seats in the November 3 municipal election, according to the city’s published final qualified-candidate list. The names below follow the city’s stated ballot order. These seats belong to Sebastopol’s municipal government, not to Sonoma County’s Board of Supervisors.
Who are the seven City Council candidates?
The City of Sebastopol’s official Elections and Voting page lists the following qualified candidates for the three open seats:
- Ian Hoff
- James Woodruff
- Kyreen Jorgensen
- Brandie L. Solovay
- Jill McLewis
- Sandra Maurer
- Erin Mitchell
The city publishes candidate contact information and links to campaign finance filings on the same page. California58 is not endorsing or ranking any of the candidates.
Which current council terms are expiring?
The city’s roster lists terms ending in December 2026 for Stephen Zollman, Jill McLewis and Sandra Maurer. Its roster lists Phill Carter and Neysa Hinton through December 2028. That explains why three rather than five regular council seats are on this year’s ballot. The candidate and officeholder lists are different: a current council member does not automatically become a candidate without qualifying.
How can readers compare candidates using primary sources?
Voters can consult each candidate’s public statements, campaign websites and Fair Political Practices Commission disclosures linked from the City Clerk’s election page. Useful questions to ask include how each candidate would approach housing and land use, streets, emergency readiness, city finances and public participation. These are questions for candidates, not unsupported claims about their positions.
The city says its clerk assists with nomination and disclosure procedures, while the Sonoma County Registrar of Voters administers voter registration, polling, ballot counting and final results for the consolidated election.
What else is on a Sebastopol ballot?
On November 3, residents can vote on statewide offices and propositions as well as any county, federal, legislative or other district races that apply to their registered address. Those are separate from the local City Council contest. Explore the Sonoma County 2026 election guide; then check your official sample ballot to confirm every race and measure. The ordinary online registration deadline is October 19; eligible voters who miss it can ask their county election office about conditional voter registration.
